Vantage Point Solutions, a growing and dynamic telecommunications consulting and engineering firm, is seeking a qualified individual to join our team of professionals. We have an immediate opening for a Data Network Consultant at our headquarters in Mitchell, SD.
Responsibilities
Typical duties for this position include:
- Managing client projects including maintaining project planners, delegating tasks to other staff, coordinating third parties, and supervising meetings
- Designing and implementing ISP network topologies including routers, switches, packet optical transport, and FTTx access equipment
- Performing network hardening and architecture assessments
- Evaluating networking equipment and software solutions for clients including Request for Proposal (RFP) projects
- Collaborate with team members across the networking, managed services, and IT security groups
- Provide escalation/mentoring role for Specialist staff members
- Diagnosing and remediating ISP network problems and outages
- Escalate network issues to vendor Technical Assistance Centers (TAC) and collaborate on resolutions
- Respond to and resolve customer service requests in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner
- Develop Method of Procedures (MOP), configuration scripts, and supporting documentation for scheduled network maintenance
- Perform periodic network maintenance including software upgrades, cutovers, intrusive changes, and diagnostics
- Managing and documenting configuration changes and network architectures with tools including Excel, Word, and Visio
- Describing technical information to non-technical individuals
- Continuously monitor industry trends, and applies this knowledge to the position

- Proficiency in common Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Teams
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required.
- Route/switch experience with Cisco, Arista, or Juniper equipment
- Packet optical transport experience with Ribbon, Ciena, or Fujitsu (Preferred)
- Understanding of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VLANs, and xSTP
- Basic understanding of ISP services including DHCP, DNS, PPPOE, and RADIUS
- Minimum three years of experience in network design and administration role
- CCNA/JNCIS or similar certification (Preferred)
